This week saw both boys off back to school. The happiest person... Cathy. She spoke of celebrating the first day of school with a bottle of wine and a stack of novels. I don't know if she actually did, but there may have been a few naps involved.
This is a hilarious way to antagonize the KKK.

Back when my kids where in grade achool you could always tell which mom's were putting their first child on the bus and who was putting their last child on the bus. The former were tearful and taking pictures. The latter were whooping it up and heading off to coffee and adult conversation.
Wow! I just visited your brother's page and read about his flight. That is unbelievable. BTW, what is a "gust front" and why is it so dangerous?
Kent, that's very funny! When we put our first kid on his first bus, we followed the bus in our car all the way to school... With second kid we just made sure he got on.
Ray, I have no idea what a gust front is, but it sounds crazy cool/scary.
A gust front, I found out in a baptism by fire, is a wind shear caused by winds associated with a thunderstorm or rain.
The business end of it is: winds go up at a couple of thousand feet per minute, sucking dirt off the ground up thousands of feet. Imagine a dust devil miles wide.
I saw one, thought it was a rain storm to stay away from, and rode it out at 9,000 feet. I was diving as hard as I could, spinning, and was still going up. weee....
Don't mess with Mother Nature.
Your picture is refreshing!
We had our back-to-school-freedom party yesterday. Weren't we supposed to be enjoying the extra time with our kids? What's up with that?
That sounds like a fun party, Ben... did the kids know?
