We're #1

U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A
I'm doing my part to keep the USA #1! I've been pounding In-N-Out and Mexican food all week. Those bloggers who do push-ups in bowling alleys and who run marathons are holding us back. With effort and concentration, I'm sure we can break through the 1/3 mark... You've got to want it!

Lucky thing "we" have the best health care system in the world. (Well, if you can afford it, that is. Oh, and live in the right place. Details, details.)

I love this chart! I think it looks like a litte "bug" chart than a people though..and the American bug looks like a "lady bug"...laughing here....Glad to see Canadians are at the 1/2 way mark on the chart...ohhh but all that MEX food must have tasted sooo good!

anonymous: "best health care system"...in Canada , ours is free...we pay relatively high taxes but have great health care for everyone! When you turn 65 your meds are free...

I don't know how you can be proud of Canada, Sarah... you're barely in the top ten. Maybe more visits to the U.S.? Come, watch television with us, eat fast food with us.

Good point anonymous... and a certain irony. We have such a good health care system and need every bit of it to treat consequences of our lifestyles.

K,so i don't know how to read percentage charts*smile*-but could draw U a really nice one!:) When I travel to the US, I tend to go to a supermarket(like Wild Oats) pick up a few things and make my lunch...dine out @ dinner time. It's more expensive to eat healthy and yet you can "biggy size" and get more for your $$ @ fast food places. Up here there's a strong move toward healthier eating @ most chain restaurants- more grilled foods available...but again, you pay almost twice as much for them.

You have inspired me to go to McDonalds for lunch in support of the cause.

Yes, it is more expensive to eat well... I shop at a local co-op and they have lots of cool foods, but it can get a little pricey.

Good job for going to McD's Michael. I'll check the data to see if it has changed at all. ;-)

Man, this is the first thing that hits me whenever I step off a plane in the US. Reminds me, after I saw "Supersize Me" (on my 12 anniversary ;-( I was sick for a couple of weeks. We need to get some folks on a Masai diet. Goat meat, milk and blood. ;-0

The Masai diet? Hm-m-m-m, not sure how that would play here.

In many places the size of your girth represents your level of success. Being #1 here is definitely something to be proud of.

Mexican (Tex-Mex?)food is what we miss the most about the good ole US of A. In Paris, we stayed long enough (3 years)to watch them catch on to begin importing black beans and selling tortillas. Their "hot" salsa was "mild" but not bad. In Kenya, no black beans, but we got someone to make tortilla's and salsa for us. The only place you can even buy a burrito is Java House and the "Tangerine." Their names alone should tell you all you need to know.

I know what you mean about the food you miss. For me, as you could probably guess, it's mexican food. After high school I spent 5 months traveling around Europe, and when I got back, my Dad said we could go anywhere to eat. Where did I go? Mexican food!
