Adventures in cluelessness

This last week, my wife asked me to drop off our six-year-old son, Floyd, and his friend, to a birthday party. I drove down the street to a neighbors party for their eight-year-old, complete with inflatable jumpy things, and dropped off the boys.

About an hour later, my wife told me that the birthday child's mother called and said that Floyd and friend had never arrived. Why? I took them to the wrong party. I had seen the neighbor's party earlier and just figured that was it. So, the boys had fun for an hour at somebody else's party then when to the right one.

Oops.

(At least I didn't drop them off at an undergrad drinking party).

An undergrad drinking party with inflatable jumpy things. Now that would be interesting.

Add a pinata and now it's a party! Non-alcoholic jello shots for the little ones?

oh my gosh, that is funny. I love stories like that. If only because, for one minute, I can imagine I'm not the biggest slacker mom on the planet.

I took my 8 year old son to a party at Chuck E. Cheese's today. I had previously prided myself of only having set foot into Mr. Cheese's once, and only then because my mom insisted on bringing my 3 year old there.

It was just as bad as I remembered it. I told my husband, "Ok, just pretend it's a culture that you don't understand or speak their language - smile, and nod your head. It'll be fine."

After about 20 minutes, we escaped next door to Wild Oats and did some grocery shopping. The organic fruit was a lot less stressful, for once.

Ok, I admit it. My name is Trrish and I'm a Chuck E. Cheese Snob."

ps. not that you're the biggest slacker mom on the planet. Just that I'm not the only one with adventures in cluelessness...

I found this post hilarious because I hang out in "clueless land" all the time. I shared this story with my wife and kids, and they immediately started harassing me with similar stories from my past. Lots of good fun!

Trish... being a slacker mother has always been a dream of mine. Thank you.

Ray... I intentionally don't give my family access to my blog. They have too many stories like this, and worse.

Sarah & Trrish... I too like wild oats, but it's pretty expensive, no?

yes, Brad I agree...why is it that they make eating healthy more expensive? Up here you pay almost double for anything marked "ORGANIC"

Floyd is a pseudonym for blog use, as is Gus, for my older son.
