Birthday

I turn 45 years old today. When I check my life expectancy at various websites, I usually estimates from 84 to 90 years old.

So, I'm officially half dead. Sigh...

I'm going to spend most of the day writing midterm questions and attending a longish meeting tonight.

Yeah, I'm a party animal. Amazing that I've made it this far...

Slow down. Pace yourself.

Is it ironic that you are writing midterm questions on a day when you are officially half dead?

Happy birthday, Brad! I turned 45 in April.

Happy birthday, Brad! You are a young pup, my friend. I turn 66 in five more days and the trick is just remembering a lot of others didn't get this far....

Happy Birthday Dude!! You are sooo . . . old. I already know I won't look as half as good as you do at 45. Have a great party. I'll take my cake by e-mail.

happy birthday Bradley. Don't worry, it is not the years that matter, it is the miles. I am 52 and tenaciously hang on to the concept of middle age.

Thank you for the birthday greetings! It's funny, I won't think of mentioning my birthday at work, but I wanted to announce it on this blog.

Thanks for:
-the advice to slow down (I'm all for it),
-the identification of irony, which was really funny
-the good news about the Boston Marathon
-the lie about me looking good for my age
-the birthday cake
-and the general encouragement to go for #46 (despite having so many miles on me)

Thank you!

I must have been out of the room when they sang and you blew out the candles. So a belated happy birthday. And when you get to be my age, the qualifying time for the Marathon will probably be measured in days.
