This week's sign that I am not a spiritual giant:
Lent is the period of time between Ash Wednesday and Easter during which many Christians practice some discipline as a way of preparing for Holy Week. E.g., pray more, give up something, try to give more to others. Well, this has been a good thing for me in the past, so I thought that I would do it again this year. So, last Wednesday I started my Lenten vows and all was going well until my sister, a power Catholic, told me that in fact Lent didn't start until this week.

I always know that Lent start the day after Fat Tuesday.
That's the sad thing... I thought last Tuesday was Fat Tuesday (and I wondered why no one was celebrating it other than me). Doh!
hee. Well, you've had an extra week to practice your Lenten (?) behavior AND your partying. Assuming one didn't exclude the other.
You're right that this extra week gave me an opportunity. What I should have done was 7 days of Fat Tuesday. Instead, though, I felt bad about having not following my lenten vows...
Maybe I was just pregaming?
