BBC Interactive Map of World Religion History

I really like maps, especially ones that document change over time. So, I have spent a lot of time at the BBC Civilizations website, for they have an interactive map where you select the religion and the year, and then it plays a slide show of that religion's growth over time.

Check it out here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/tools/civilisations/civlaunch.shtml

Warning: It can be addictive.

Outstanding find!

What's really striking about it to me is how temporary nations are, but how much longer-lasting religions are.

That's a good point... the blotches on the map can stay put for many centuries.

I was just depressed from watching Judaism.

hey brad,

just dropping a note to say that i've enjoyed browsing through your blog. i'm a Christian who also happens to like sociology alot.

its refreshing to know that there're sociology professors who are not afraid to express their faith publicly.

Adrienne, why did you find it depressing?

Thank you, Bry.
