Obama as Hitler & Stalin

I recently came across a web posting that hyperventilated about Obama's proposed National Security Force. This posting likened it to something out of Nazi Germany, which I thought might be a bit of a stretch.

I mentioned this to my friend David, and he sent me a link about a congressman warning of this proposal being both Nazi and Marxist. Now, I'm not a political expert, but it seems hard to be both fascist and socialist.

My guess? Worst case scenario is senior citizens in yellow windbreakers with flashlights.

If memory serves, early after the Sept. 11 attacks, Bush proposed a way for civilians to report suspicious activities and be on watch to help secure our nation. As I recall, democrats and the ACLU were very concerned that Bush was violating the US constitution by suggesting civilians start to watch their neighbors and report to the government.

It seems Obama's proposal is similar, but much more formalized and aggressive in its approach.

Anyway, for what its worth, I think that is part of the history behind this new proposal. I think we will have to wait and see what actually happens, if anything, before making such radical assertions.

Someone I know who lives in a certain part of the country knows, ahem, communities of people who are all convinced that Obama is the anti-christ. What strikes me as odd about this (well, in addition to its absurdity) is that in Christian theology the anti-christ's arrival is part of the end of the world (an unavoidable event). Did they think by not voting for the anti-christ they could re-write the future which their own God had already foretold?

It's interesting how much reaction this proposal has prompted... yet it's rather a minor point of what he talked about.
